Wesley UMC News

July 28, 2010

Our Church has been dressed up quite a bit.  The flowers in the pots and the miniature Magnolias have given our church front a much needed   new look that improves the curb appeal of our facility.

This “curb appeal” does not have any thing to do with Who we worship or why we worship our God and His Son.  What the “curb appeal” does say is that we are an alive congregation and we care about the facility that God has given us and that we are willing to take care of it in a way that is pleasing to God. After all we are all called to be good stewards of the good gifts that God has given us.

Thanks to Nancy and Wellman Richards for their coordination of the repairs and purchases. Wellman, Doug McDaniels, Lloyd Craig and Fred Collins for being there to actually do the work or oversee it.

Thanks to Frey’s Nursery (Mark and Terry Frey) for their donations as well.

Some of the other recent maintenance type items we have taken care of are new carpet in the hallway area on the north side of the sanctuary, new toilets in the fellowship hall, moving the A.C. Vents in the fellowship hall and replacing the faucet assembly in the fellowship hall kitchen.  Last year we had the floors in the fellowship hall repainted and had the inside of the Sanctuary building painted.  All of this work is done because people care about the place they worship in and want to take care of all that God has given them.

Don’t forget that our buildings and material possessions need regular maintenance and so do our bodies and souls.  Spend some time with the Lord each day and see the rebuilding and blessings that will come your way.

God’s Peace and Blessings to all, Pastor Randy

Jessica Frazier

June 25, 2010

Jessica Frazier had some real good news this week.  Doctors at M.D. Anderson said her cancer is in remission.   Let’s give all the glory and honor to our God and thank all of those who have been in prayer for her.   She has endured and perservered through all the chemo and has finished that part of her treatment.  She will begin radiation treatment soon so we will keep Jessica in our prayers for continued healing and safe travel as she goes back and forth to Houston.

I would like to thank Jessica for her Christian witness.  It is great to see young people who believe and example their faith to the world.

The Gospel at Annual Conference

June 2, 2010

What a wonderful service we attended Monday night. It was a Gospel Service of praise and thanksgiving.  We heard a great sermon by the Rev. Dr. Tom Long on being truly thankful for all we have been given.  As you can tell in the picture the pews are empty because Jane and I got there early and got to listen to the choir and soloist warm up.  We got a good dose of praise and worship before the praise and worship began.  The Sanctuary is big, very big and the backdrop behind the choir area is very colorful.  All of this makes for a great worship experience by being able to hear the Gospel in song and sermon.

Dr. Long’s sermon was on the 10 lepers that Jesus healed.  Only one came back to offer thanks to Jesus.  The other nine took the healing as something that God owed them.  It was God’s job to heal them.  It was God’s responsibility to heal them.  How often do we take our God for granted and hold Him responsible for everything and forget to thank Him for anything.  Our God loves us and wants the best for us.  He wants us to know He is there, to acknowledge His presence and to thank Him for all that He provides for us.  Try offering God all the glory and honor each and every moment of every day and see if He doesn’t honor the worship you give Him in your very own lives.  As the song says, “Our God is an Awesome God”, lets act like it.

I pray for God’s blessings and peace to be with you all the days of your lives, Pastor Randy

Wednesday Prayer and Bible Study Group

May 19, 2010

This is the Group that is very faithful at coming each Wednesday. We have a prayer time for those on our prayer list, a short Bible Study type program and then we have a meal furnished by those in attendance. What a blessing they are to the Pastor at Wesley UMC who is taking the picture shown.
