The Fall Festival and Bazaar are coming….

October 1, 2011

The Fall Festival will be October 30th from 2-4pm and the Fall Bazaar will be November 12th.  The picture above is the coverlet and pillowsham we will be giving to the person holding the winning ticket.  See ladies in the church for a ticket.  We are asking a one dollar donation for each ticket.  There will be lots of other good stuff at the Bazaar plus we will have our pecan and walnut’s for sale by then also.

The Fall Festival will be lots of fun with a trunk or treat for the kids, food for all and an award for the best decorated trunk.  We will have a lot of fun so bring all the kids you can find and invite some more.  We will have a bounce castle and slide for the kids with other games for them to play too.

This slideshow is a group of pictures I took with my Blackberry at the UMCOR facility in Baldwin, La.  UMCOR is an acronym for United Methodist Committee On Relief.  If you are seeking more information just Google UMCOR.

As you can see the facility is mainly a warehouse where supplies are gathered and shipped to emergencies that occur all over the U.S. as well as the world.  Supplies such as cleaning materials in flood buckets to birthing kits, hygiene kits and school supplies.  We delivered materials that our United Methodist Women gathered specifically for birthing and hygiene kits.   This is a very worthwhile charity to give to because 100 percent of your gift, material or cash, goes to the disaster relief effort.  This facility and others like it are supported by the regular tithes and gifts given to/through the many United Methodist Churches worldwide.

Most of the sorting and packaging is done by many volunteers who come from around the United States to give of their time and efforts to help disaster areas in a very meaningful way.  There is also a sewing room where those gifted and talented- needle people can exercise their gifts.  The faciltiy can house those volunteers, feed them and keep them very busy.

I hope you will consider helping in any way you can.

The pictures above are from the Orangefield Cormier Museum.  The ladies are Wanda Barron, Darlene Thompson, Jo Lynn Withrow and Jan Day.  Billy Brossette was just taking a break from his volunteer duties.  They are all members of Wesley UMC and were there because the Director of the Museum, Harvey Wilson (another member) invited them to come and show how the quilt being made for the Fall Bazaar comes together.  The other picture is of my grandsons Brady and Tobey.

If you haven’t had the chance to make the tour you really should.  It is really worth the effort.  The tour down memory lane is neat and you get to see a lot of antique toys, tools, household appliances and furniture.

The spirit of Paul Cormier and the Cormier family is preserved within the Museum.

The Spirit of God and the beginning of the christian church is preserved in Pentecost Sunday.  That is tomorrow.  God’s Holy Spirit was let loose upon the earth for all to be able to experience.  It wasn’t the creation of the Holy Spirit, just God’s blessing being poured out and shared with everyone who invited the Spirit in.  Have you?  Do you?  Will you?  I hope so!

Be blessed in all you do and have a great day tomorrow,

Randy

These are some pictures of some of the people who came to our pancake breakfast.  Gabby Hammett, Billy Brossette, Harvey Wilson and Randy Branch were the Methodist Men who prepared the food.  Tommy Day washed some dishes and many others ate some pretty good pancakes and sausage.  Everyone seemed to have a good time and good fellowship.  We look forward to our next pancake breakfast on the first Saturday of June.  Hope everyone will decide to come to break bread together, fellowship and just have a good ole time.  Maybe we can get twice as many as the 38 who were at the table for the first breakfast.

God’s Peace and Blessings,

Randy

If you are at Wesley on Sunday evening you might get to see a beautiful sunset like this one taken from the yard by the fellowship hall.

We have a really good Fall Festival planned for Sunday.  It is going to be beautiful weather and a great day so come see us from 4pm to 6pm. We will have a moon walk, hot dogs, drinks, trunk or treat candy and games.  They are all our gift to you.  Come fellowship with us and bring the kids and a friend.  Looking forward to seeing every one there.  Have a great day and remember to keep up the devotionals daily.  A few moments spent with your special friend Jesus is a great way to make every day better.

A Beautiful quilt that we will be giving to someone who donates a dollar to our church.  For your donation you will receive a ticket and during our Church Bazaar on the 14th someone will be blessed with this quilt. The quilt will easily fit a queen size bed and will cover the top of a king size bed.  Thanks in advance for your donations. Leave a comment here if you are interested in donating.  Or leave a comment on facebook at my home page.

This vendor was selling his produce and tripe (cow stomach) at a festival in Italy…hope we don’t have any stands with cow noses or cow stomachs on them at our fall festival.

Well we have lots of big plans for the fall. Our annual Bazaar, headed up by Nancy Richards, will be on November 13th, the second Saturday.  Lots of good crafts, bunches of good food and tons of smiling faces to fellowship with.  Thanks to Nancy for taking on this project again and thanks to all of those volunteers who make it happen.  Come by and visit for a while…..no cow noses, I promise….

Pecan sales will start around the end of October.  The head honcho for the Pecan sales will be Billy Brossette.   Thanks to Billy for getting the pecans ordered.   Get your orders in early for the best pecans you will find  this fall.   We will have walnuts also.

We will have a fall festival day at the church where we will host a trunk or treat for the kids and free links/hot dogs/drinks for everyone who stops by.   The festival will be on the 31st of October.   Thanks to Jo Lynn Withrow for taking the lead on the fall festival.  I am sure that it will be a wonderful time of fellowship and fun.

Jesus said “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Saying that this is the greatest commandment and a second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  Help us to invite our neighbors to each of these functions.  In all of this love we are sure to find some really good fun and fellowship.

Make time for Sunday School and Church this Sunday.

Have a blessed day and weekend,  Randy

Well here is a sample of the Cookbook.   Hope you can read them or at least get a sense of how it is organized.  If you squint real hard you might be able to get a good biscuit recipe.  Sorry about the picture quality; I took them with my BB inside on the countertop in the kitchen.  But anyway you can see that it is a quality cookbook and I believe well worth the $10.00’s we are selling them for.

While it is a good book, it is not the Good Book.  However, it does have scripture in it that makes it a better book than just any ordinary old cookbook.   While this cook book has many recipes for sustaining our physical life, the other Good Book has recipes for sustaining our souls and leading us into eternal life….    I like to think of the cookbook as helping us to enjoy the life trip that the recipes in the Good Book gives to us.

Use the cookbook to cook up something good to eat and nourish your body so that you can be all that Christ calls you to be in the Good Book.

Have a blessed day,  Randy

Cookbooks.  Makes me hungry already.  Okay, it doesn’t take much to make me hungry.  I want to claim that all of these recipes are good United Methodist recipes but no matter where they came from, they are very good!!!!

We will be selling our Cookbooks for $10.00 each.   If you are interested, please let me know by comment here on the blog, through Facebook or contacting us at the church (8867276).  Leave a message there and we will get back with you.   We only have 560 cookbooks so get your orders in early.

Thanks to all the ladies and guys who brought their favorite recipes in for the cookbook.  Thanks to the cookbook committee:  Co-Chairpersons Jan Day, Wanda Barron, Charlene Wallace, and members JoLyn Withrow, Dean Brossette, and Frankie Cronk.  Your hard work and dedication to this project is much appreciated.
