- We gave out 237 free spaghetti lunches Thursday 4/28/16 in Deweyville, Texas. Lots of people working hard to recover from the flooding. Wesley/Orange UMC folks helping to feed those who are in need. Monday of last week in a torrential downpour we served 124 free lunches. A great group of Christians giving life to Christ’s words!

Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch
April 29, 2016Volunteers
June 9, 2010Two sisters that are always at church services; Frances Bertrand and Jean Martin sure do a lot for God at Wesley UMC. Jean, at the organ filling in for Sarah Peddy, fulfills many different roles. Substitute organist is just one of those roles. She also is a Sunday School teacher, a lay speaker, a third Sunday Singer and a Bible Study Leader. Thanks Jean for all you are doing.
Frances is our song leader, a Bible Study Leader and is at the church when the doors are open. Thanks Frances for all you do. Thanks for all the fresh vegetables and fruit that you and Mitch provide for so many of us at Wesley.
Between Frances and Jean they also pick out the music for each Sunday and work with Sarah to make sure everything goes right at services. They are always willing to do things like help serve communion or clean up communion sacraments on Sunday Evening. Besides all that they really take pleasure in giving their Pastor a hard time whenever the opportunity presents itself. Their Pastor appreciates them and doesn’t mind the hard time at all. Beautiful people doing God’s work each and every day.
Remember our Bible Study starts tonight, Wednesday 6-9-10 at 6pm. We will be working our way through the Acts of the Apostles.
Have a blessed day, Pastor Randy
Men’s Sunday School Class
June 1, 2010The Men’s Sunday School Class is a very faithful group. From left to right are Harvey Wilson, Tommy Day, Billy Brossette and Tom Schulte. Tom was a guest for this past Sunday. He was also the guest speaker for the morning service and did a great job presenting the Gideon’s Ministry efforts for this area and the world. Thanks again Tom.
As you can see the Men’s class is made up of a few but very faithful brothers in Christ. They sure could use some more company. They are also looking forward to Buddy Withrow”s return following recovery from his back surgery. Get well quick Buddy. Tommy Day is the teacher/leader of the class and does a very good and thorough job of teaching the lesson for that Sunday. Thanks for all of your efforts Tommy Day.
Women’s Sunday School Class
May 30, 2010From left to right in the standing row: Vivien Martin, Thelma Laughlin, Darlene Thompson, Jan Day, Jean Martin, Dean Self, Colleen Adair, Frankie Cronk, Connie Pike, Dean Brossette, Wanda Barron and Jane Branch.
Sitting in the pew next to the standing row: Robbie Murphy, Cheryl Crawford, Cheryl Earnest and Jean Marshall.
Sitting in the next pew are: Eunice Burns, Joyce Meads, B.J. Crawford and Katherine Kendig.
My apologies if I got any names or spellings wrong.
I asked the Women’s Sunday School Class to move to the Sanctuary to get this picture. As you can see they are a large class and they all have a wonderful spirit. There are 20 in attendance for this picture and some were not there today. Keep growing in numbers ladies. It would be a wonderful problem to have to find you a larger room to meet in (probably the fellowship hall). We really need to get that soundproofing done so we can meet over there!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
JLW
Billy and Dean Brossette joined Wesley United Methodist Church in July 2006.We are blessed to have them. These two are active in everything our church has to offer. They are here for both services on Sunday and also the Wed. night Bible study and fellowship meal. Both are involved in Sunday School. Billy serves on the SPR Committee, president of UMM, Third Sunday Singers and heads up the link sale for the bazaar. Dean is a big help during the bazaar making items to sell and helping make the gumbo. She is a faithful member of UMW, serves on the cookbook committee and helps with the cooking for the Lamar students.
Both are volunteers at the Soup Kitchen on the 3rd & 5th Friday of each month. We love the enthusiasm and love they share with everyone. Thank you both for being so dedicated and faithful to our church.
Thanks to Jo Lynn Withrow for the article.
