Turkeys gobble as a form of communication. Me I just gobble turkey down. Isn’t there special dispensation for gluttony on Thanksgiving Day.
Matthew 24:42 Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.
24:43 But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.
24:44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
Keep awake after eating all that Thanksgiving Feast? That’s nap time for sure! I don’t think Jesus was talking about staying awake as in physical eyes open and in an alert physical sense. I believe Jesus is telling us to be spiritually awake and alert. In other words doing what Christ has called us to do out of a sense of heart-felt desire to be who He calls us to be. We can know who Jesus Christ is in our minds and we can convince ourselves of the presence of God and still not know what Jesus calls us to do or who He calls us to be. I can read about helping people and decide to go out and work the local soup kitchen or donate time to a homeless shelter but I must know in my heart that Jesus is calling me to do those things. I believe those you are helping know if you are doing it for all the right reasons or doing it because you know in your heart it is the right thing to do. Those you are helping will know that you are doing good things out of the love for your fellow-man and know that you are thankful to your God.
Have a great day being thankful, Randy
